SmartHomes was founded on 2nd March 1983 and operates in the North East, North Yorkshire and the Scottish Borders, originally operating from Teesside and demonstrating tremendous growth. Due to expansion throughout the north of the UK we needed to incorporate the company, and in June 2016 we joined forces with Mackenzie & Moncur to become Mackenzie & Moncur, trading as SmartHomes.

Mackenzie & Moncur began trading around 1850, during the second half of the 19th Century, Mackenzie & Moncur constructed and manufactured many hothouses and veranda's, along with many heating systems running on steam or gas and ventilation systems using natural and mechanical methods for a range of buildings including, but not limited to schools, churches, mansions and factories.

We are a direct sales company (direct from factory to consumer), prompting our expansion through "promotional homes, bulk area installations" and simply customer recommendations, quality installations with exceptional and efficient service.
